November Newsletter

BLUEPRINTS
IMITATION OF LIFE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY NEWSLETTER
November 2011
Next Meeting: Tuesday, November 22th

Welcome new members (returning):  Sharon Goldschneider, and Sheree Granere.

Next meeting:  November 22, 2011 at Patty Smith’s house, 6:30- 9 p.m.  Patty will teach us hat-making for dolls. Patty writes:  “I'm using the book “Hats In Miniature” by Lyn Waring. I'll show how to make and what I use in the different hats. I'll have some hats made so we can finish, bring small flowers and ribbon. You can use them for a doll or make a pin cushion. Or my latest X-mas ornament.”
Last month’s meeting was on hair --- we explored several dozen ways of putting hair on dolls.  The meeting before that was on needle-sculpting faces, so we should each have at least one head ready for a new hat.  This will be fun.

HOLIDAY PARTY:  Barbara Chapman has again invited us all to her home on December 11th, 2 p.m.  She always decorates beautifully and is a most gracious hostess.  If you’ve never been to Barbara’s home, don’t miss this.  Bring finger food.  There’s an optional gift exchange, with pin dolls.  Make and bring a pin doll and take one home.

Patty Smith set up a table of dolls at the Kaleidoscope Quilt Guild show last October 15th.  Here is a photo of her table.  She says the dolls were very well received.

Rosemary Hernandez has stocked some doll-making supplies in the Sew-Pro stores.  She writes: “ I just wanted to drop a note and let you know that I was able to get a bolt of that fabric that Mimi Winer recommended for her dolls in Sew Pro's and we have it for only $5.50 a yard. We also got some of the long John James needles.”  (This should have been in the last Blueprints, but there wasn’t a last Blueprints because my (Lois’s) computer broke. )  Please support Sew-Pro for doll-making supplies.

Former member, Pamela Armas, is asking for black buttons – all kinds and sizes – single and mis-matched okay.  She’s making a very large black raven.  Send them to her at P.O. Box 748, Mountainair, NM, 87036.
