Blueprints, September 2011

BLUEPRINTS
IMITATION OF LIFE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY NEWSLETTER
SEPTEMBER 2011
Next Meeting: Tuesday, September 27th

We had two great meetings in August.  The first week, on the 4th, at Joann Dossett’s
house, was “meet the teacher” Gloria“Mimi” Winer, the evening before her workshop.
It was well attended and Gloria, as usual, was very entertaining and most generous with
her tips and techniques.  The second, on August 28th, at Sandy Feingold’s house, was also very
well attended.  We discussed all the different ways to design and make doll heads, from simple
to most complicated.  Everyone brought dolls to show and it was a good variety.

September’s meeting is back to our regular meeting time and place:  Tuesday, Sept. 27th,
at Joann Dossett’s at 6:30 p.m.  Joann’s address is 2871 Brant St. in San Diego.  Phone
is 619-299-4115.  At the request of those at the August meeting, Lois will do a hands-on,

---teaching how to needle-sculpt stuffed balls of nylon

pantyhose to make a variety of character faces.
She’ll also demonstrate how to make an open mouth with teeth
and tongue
from pantyhose.
October and November meetings will continue with hands-on doll making,
 emphasizing hairdos and then hats.

Patti Smith has challenged us to supply dolls for her table at the
Kaleidoscope Quilt Guild on Saturday, October 15th.  Her theme is
“Flowers”, but she welcomes cloth dolls not related to the theme.
Bring your doll(s) to the September meeting to give to Patti.
The quilt show is at the Lemon Grove Masonic Center, 2590 Main St., Lemon Grove, CA,  from 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m.  It the 17th annual Kaleidoscope of Quilts Show, with over 100 quilts ……..and, our
dolls.  Free admission and free refreshments. Thank you, Patti, for inviting us.

Another quilt show:  the Fallbrook Quilt Guild presents “Hand-Crafted Treasures” on November 4-5th,
at the Fallbrook Presbyterian Church, 463 S. Stage Coach Ln., in Fallbrook.  Over 200 quilts
demonstrations, opportunity quilt, vendors, quilts for sale, food and beverages.
Admission is$7 for adults, $2 for children 3 to 12.  No strollers.

Stephanie Meyer has volunteered to be our new web-master.  Does anyone have the passwords to our
old web-site.  We do have the passwords for the blog that Kelly Riley set up before her husband became so ill.
Thank you, Stephanie, for pitching in.

There are other open positions on the board.  Consider following Stephanie’s example.
September is our usual membership renewal time.  Dues are still $25 per year.
Please give Sheila a check at the next meeting or mail to her:  Sheila Godfrey, 908 Morse St., Oceanside, CA 92054

There’s been very little feedback on finding a meeting place for regular month meetings.
If you find a place near you, you won’t have to drive far.  Do you all want to continue
with fourth Tuesday evenings, or want some other day/time?  Input, please.
